Get Started with Precision Cooking Tools

Start using Precision Cooking technology in a few steps.

Purchase a Precision Cooking Tool

If your Café appliance supports Precision Cooking and did not come with a compatible cooking tool, you can purchase one to get cooking:

 

Activate a Precision Cooking Tool

NOTE: Precision cooking tools are activated as follows

    • Hestan Cue Cookware (with black end cap): Tap pan handle

    • Precision Probe: Press side button once

    • Built-in Precision Cooktop Sensor (LCD range): select conventional sensor on LCD touchscreen after activating Precision Cooking

    • Built-in Precision Cooktop Sensor (knob model range): select 1 after activating Precision Cooking

Get Started with your Cooktop

Pair my Precision Cooking Tool

    1. Ensure your WiFi is commissioned. If you need help commissioning the unit, see below section on Commissioning.

    2. Press and hold the Precision Cooking pad for 3 seconds until the display reads “Add” and the bluetooth symbol is blinking.

    3. Tap the ˄ to initiate pairing mode on the unit.

    4. Activate your precision cooking tool.

    5. When Bluetooth symbol stops blinking, the cooking tool has been added. Repeat process to add up to 5 additional cooking tools.

    6. Touch Precision Cooking to exit.

 

Prepare my Cooktop

    1. Touch the Precision Cooking pad.

    2. Select any flashing burner by tapping the On/Off button for the desired burner.

    3. The display will read “Act”, instructing you to activate a cooking tool for use. Activate your precision cooking tool.

 

Control my Precision Cooking Tool

Once the cooking tool is activated, the display will read “APP”, indicating it is ready for temperature input. There are two control modes: App and Local.

    • You may set the temperature through an App such as SmartHQ or Hestan Cue (by Hestan Smart Cooking). Apps are available through your mobile device’s app store.

    • Alternatively, use the burner ring to select a temperature, and adjust using the + and – buttons. No App or mobile device use is required for Local control. NOTE: You cannot return to App control once local control is set.

 

Commissioning WiFi for my Precision Cooking Tool

    1. Touch and hold the Precision Cooking pad for 3 seconds until the display reads “Add” and bluetooth symbol is blinking.

    2. Tap the ˅ twice until display reads “Off” and WiFi symbol is blinking.

    3. Tap ˄ to turn WiFi on. The WiFi icon will turn solid when complete.

    4. Open the SmartHQ App on your mobile device and follow additional steps to connect.

    5. Press the Precision Cooking button to exit.

Get Started with your Range (knob model)

Pair my Precision Cooking Tool

    1. Ensure your WiFi is commissioned. If you need help commissioning the unit, see below section on Commissioning.

    2. Press the Settings pad, select Bluetooth, then select Pair.

    3. Activate your precision cooking tool.

    4. Repeat process to add up to 5 additional cooking tools.

 

Prepare my Range Cooktop (knob model)

    1. Turn the knob to Precision Cooking for the desired burner.

    2. The display will read “Activate cookware”, instructing you to activate a cooking tool for use.

    3. Activate your precision cooking tool.

 

Control my Precision Cooking Tool

Once the cooking tool is activated, the display will prompt you to set the precision cooking tool temperature. There are two control modes: App and Local.

    • You may set the temperature through an App such as SmartHQ or Hestan Cue (by Hestan Smart Cooking). Apps are available through your mobile device’s app store.

    • Alternatively, use the burner knob to select and adjust the set temperature, and adjust using the + and – buttons or by turning the knob. No App or mobile device use is required for Local control. NOTE: You cannot return to App control once Local control is set.

 

Commissioning WiFi for my Precision Cooking Tool

    1. Press the Settings pad, select WiFi.

    2. Follow the instructions on your oven display and mobile device SmartHQ App to complete commissioning.

Get Started with your Range (LCD touchscreen model)

Pair my Precision Cooking Tool

    1. Ensure your WiFi is commissioned. If you need help commissioning the unit, see below section on Commissioning.

    2. Enter settings menu on range LCD touchscreen, select Bluetooth, then select Pair.

    3. Activate your precision cooking tool.

    4. Repeat process to add up to 5 additional cooking tools.

 

Prepare my Range Cooktop (LCD touchscreen model)

    1. Select “To Cooktop” on display.

    2. Select “Start” on LCD touchscreen display then On/Off on the burner you intend to use.

    3. Activate your precision cooking tool.

 

Control my Precision Cooking Tool

Once the cooking tool is activated, the display will prompt you to set the precision cooking tool temperature. There are two control modes: App and Local.

    • You may set the temperature through an App such as SmartHQ or Hestan Cue (by Hestan Smart Cooking). Apps are available through your mobile device’s app store.

    • Alternatively, use the glide touch controls to select a temperature, and adjust using the + and – buttons. No App or mobile device use is required for Local control. NOTE: You cannot return to App control once Local control is set.
