Toast Toppers: Express Yourself with Toast Using Your Favorite Pairings

There’s more to toast than bread and butter; so much more. The ingredients matter—even the toaster you use greatly affects your final dish. Not to mention, toast should not be dismissed as a breakfast-only meal offering. You can make delicious toast-based meals and snacks throughout the day without tiring of the concept.

Consider the Toaster You Use

Though it may come down to what’s on your countertop, choosing the right toaster for your bread and toppings combination is important. If your bread is extra thick or you want to heat your toppings too, you may need to use our Café Couture Oven. It offers 14 cooking modes (including Toast and Bagel) and a CrispFinish setting to ensure your toppings will be melted, browned, or crisped perfectly. You can also make several slices of toast at once in its larger capacity oven, so it’s convenient for larger families or for entertaining with toast.

For most other breads and toast combinations where you add your toppings after toasting, our Café Express Finish Toaster creates beautiful toast in about a minute—even with thicker toast slices. Artisan bread, English muffins, and bagels all fit nicely in its 1.38-inch slots. The toaster also features four preset functions: Express Finish, Bagel, Reheat, and Frozen, to toast quickly, produce crispy-yet-soft-inside bagels, warm up artisan bread, or thawed Belgian waffles from your freezer. Along with its eight shade options, you’re sure to achieve your perfect toast slices every day.

So Many Bread Options for Toasting

Choosing the type of bread you’d like to toast creates the base for your toasted dish. From artisan bread to your favorite banana bread recipe, if it’s bread you can almost certainly toast it. Some types of bread we love toasted include sourdough bread, challah bread, brioche bread, and whole-grain bread.

When choosing your bread, consider what toppings you want to use first as that will help you pick the one to best hold up to your ingredients. Brioche and challah bread are both sweeter and pair well with toppings like honey and jam. Sourdough is sturdy and matches well with tangier toppings such as cream cheese or goat cheese. But you can mix it up; often sweeter bread pairs well with smokey meats and cheeses. And when you top soft cheese with fruit spread or jam, you’ll want a crispy toast underneath it all.

You can express yourself with toast by choosing your favorite breads and pairings. Though it’s not just for breakfast, classic avocado toast makes a healthy, filling lunch or snack. And you can’t go wrong with a classic egg on toast, but what if you use salsa on the egg? Or bacon jam? You can take your tastebuds (or shall we say “toastbuds”?) on a culinary adventure with toppings from around the world. To start you off, try one of our easy recipes, and feel free to add or remove toppings from each to personalize your tastes.
